Legal and compliance
Accessibility Statement
Benitez Contractors is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who navigate with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control. Accessibility is not a compliance exercise here: a meaningful share of the work we do is aging-in-place and accessibility remodeling, and a website that excluded those clients would be a contradiction.
Standard we work to
This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA. That standard is also referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance and by California state accessibility requirements.
What we have done
Accessibility was designed in rather than retrofitted. Specific measures include the following.
- Every foreground and background color pair on the site was verified against the 4.5:1 contrast minimum before any component was built. Two colors from the original brand palette failed and were adjusted rather than shipped.
- The whole site is operable by keyboard alone, including the mega menu, the mobile navigation drawer, every form, every calculator and the cookie banner. Focus is visible at all times and trapped correctly inside dialogs.
- Semantic HTML5 and ARIA landmarks are used throughout, with a single H1 per page and a heading order that does not skip levels.
- A skip to main content link is the first focusable element on every page.
- All meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Touch targets are a minimum of 48 by 48 pixels, and body text never drops below 16 pixels on mobile.
- The site respects the prefers-reduced-motion setting and disables non essential animation when it is on.
- Calculator results are announced to screen readers through a live region as values change.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than pretend they do not exist. The embedded Google map in the footer is a third party component whose accessibility we do not control; the full address and phone number are always available as text immediately above it, so no information is only available through the map. Some technical construction terminology is unavoidable, which is why the site includes a plain language glossary.
